Canon PIXMA MX895 Canon inkjet office printers differ from their rivals by focusing on photo printing. Scan and copy functions less than stellar, but still pretty good. Our test text reproduced well and fine details captured, but whites tend to be a bit dirty and a bit washed out color in general. They are perfectly usable, but the scan will take a little touch-up software to capture high standard match HP.

If you're wondering what really changed from the previous model, Canon has added an auto-duplex mode to save paper, and also produced PIXMA Cloud Link, which launched in April. This lets you print images directly from Picasa or Canon's cloud services themselves, and combine remote printing via AirPrint is Apple so you can print directly from your iOS device.

In addition, the same pace as before: it managed a reasonable 11.5ppm and 6.1ppm in mono and color, and a 6 x 4in photo took 48 seconds. Operational costs have increased a bit, though. Canon does not offer high-yield cartridges to reduce costs beyond 3.3p mono and color pages 9p rather steep, and it was enough to kill its appeal outside the home.
